Our Services
We provide a full garden design service with the ability to take your garden from the first concept ideas through to a fully completed, outdoor space. Although we prefer to be involved with the project through to completion (as we feel this produces the best results), our services are flexible and we can be involved for just the design stage if you'd prefer.
Initial consultation and brief
Every new garden starts with a site visit and a chat to gain a better understanding of your needs and requirements. This is your chance to let me know everything you’d like from your garden. Following our meeting, I put together a fee proposal and design brief for you to approve
Detailed design
Once you have approved the concept design, I draw up a final masterplan that reflects the agreed layout. From this I work to detail all of the elements that form the new garden including paving, walling, drainage, lighting etc, alongside the soft landscape details including planting plans, specifications and plant schedules. Planning and Building Bye-Law applications may be required during this stage
Site survey and analysis
Once the fee proposal and design brief have been approved a second site visit is undertaken to gain a thorough understanding of your current garden. The opportunities and constraints that will affect the design will also be considered such as soil type, wind direction, existing planting etc. A topographic survey is also usually commissioned at this stage
Project Monitoring
With the garden elements fully detailed, we can help you source quotations for building your new garden with local contractors and specialists that we have worked with previously. Once approved and work underway, we can also monitor the garden build helping to ensure the garden is built to the intended design and to the required quality
Concept design
Informed by the design brief and site analysis, I draw up the initial design for your garden which will be presented as a 2d plan along with 3d images. This design will be presented in person giving you the opportunity to ask any questions and provide feedback. The design will then be refined to reflect your comments and sent back to you for approval
Planting
The planting of your garden is usually carried out once the main structural elements have been completed, I work alongside local planting and maintenance specialists to source, supply and then place out the planting scheme for the gardeners to plant. I will then be on hand to help with advice on maintaining the new garden and to help with the transition from the build team to your own maintenance team or gardener.
Additional services
In addition to our standard service above, we are also able to help with the following:
Landscape design
For private or commercial clients we are able to draw up landscape and planting plans to satisfy conditions for Planning Applications working alongside your architect and ecologist. Once the application has been approved, we are then able to help with enabling the garden or development to be constructed and planted.
Plant sourcing
Along with carrying out the design of your planting scheme, we are able to source the plants for your garden or development and arrange for them to be planted using gardeners that we have worked with for a number of years. Depending on the type, size and quantity of plants required, we source our plants either locally or from Uk and Europe specialist nurseries.
Garden styling
To enhance the structural elements of the garden and planting, we are also able to provide a styling service for the garden, sourcing pots and planters, sculptures and furniture.
